Tanzania -  Kigoma - August 2007

All the family after one year travelling ...

In Kigoma, Daniel mets Stephane, a Belgian Agronomist Engineer.

The day after, he invites us to make a presentation about his project : The production of Bio-diesel from the palm trees.

The tree nursery ...

The locals still use a manual process to extract the oil from the fruits of the palm tree.

The fruits ...

Cooking before pressing...

Pressing ...impressive

Before to reach the palm grove, we have to cross a river by boat. Then we discover the first trees and their fruits.

The plant and the process for the oil extraction  ...

The project is great ... Perhaps in the future, Tanzania will not need anymore to import the combustible which is the reason why it is so expensive today in this country. On top, this project will create jobs and will allow to stop the pollution coming from the usage of the fossil combustible (with this new project, the CO2 rejected by the car is equivalent to the CO2 absorbed by the tree ).

Stéphane is a pioneer in Africa in this field ... In some months, the first liters of Bio-diesel will be available in Kigoma. We wish him all the success he deserves for the future !
