Bolivie - Christmas in the amazonian jungle - Dec 2006

The shower is more than welcome when we join the village. Clothes are brought to the laundry. The christmas market is quite different from what we know : you can buy a bunch of bananas, hens, coca leaves...and some toys for the kids.

In the evening we meet again Patricia, Johnny, Joris, Kate et Maria at the Moskito Bar. Rémy & Isabelle have left already.

Kate & Mary prepared some gifts for the kids...

Joris makes a Salsa demonstration for us. He took some courses in Ecuador, instead of going to his spanish courses...

Emma & Luka fall asleep on cushions at the end of the evening...

And at midnight we all sing 'So this is Christmas ...' Strange feeling, to be in Rurrenabaque at this moment...

We say goodbye during the night, since they will leave for La Paz and we will stay to discover the jungle.

For a future trip in Ireland, we have found our guide ! It will be Johnny !

The day after Christmas, the village organizes a small fiesta. The program :cerveza, coca leaves & an improvised rodeo...To see this 'fiesta' we use the local taxi...moto-taxis...

When we arrive, we discover a corral. As always in Bolivia, it's the anarchy ! People shout, the bull is excited, there is no security organization at all...It's incredible! A small band plays repetitive music. Everybody is authorised to challenge the bull ...it's free ! There are no rules ! Every year there are hurt and even dead persons....

A young guy is ejected in less than 2 seconds...

Another one has even less luck...he is evacuated and everybody laugh. We are just shocked !

This one gets horned ! And the public asks for more !

That guy remains the longest on the bull...

When we leave the corral, we have a strange feeling ...are we dreaming? Is that real ?

The next day we are leaving for the jungle!
